They know that when it comes to tamales, time is of the essence. Upon walking in, I was greeted by the friendly staff who were more than happy to guide me through their mouthwatering tamale offerings. Not only were they knowledgeable about their tamales, but they also made me feel right at home. While I primarily focused on the tamales during my visit, I couldn't resist trying a barbacoa taco as well. The tender and flavorful barbacoa paired perfectly with the homemade tortilla, making it a must-try for any taco lover.

The texture was spot on, not too dry or too wet, just deliciously moist. The presentation was also impressive, with a colorful array of toppings and garnishes that added an extra flair to the plate. In conclusion, if you're looking for a tamale experience that goes beyond your wildest expectations, look no further than Curra's Grill Oltorf.

They were warm, comforting, and gave me the energy I needed to start my day. Plus, the owner and staff were so friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall delightful experience. They have such an extensive selection of flavors that I couldn't resist trying them all. From classic pork and chicken to unique options like spinach and cheese or even vegan tamales, there's a tamale for every palate. I wasted no time and ordered a variety of tamales to sample. With each bite, I was met with the perfect combination of moist and flavorful masa that practically melted in my mouth.

Catering Menu

Farmers market stalwart Tamale Addiction offers all sorts of tamales for the holiday season and beyond. Some good dinner options for tonight include Loro, Suerte or Este. And if you’re looking for a vegetarian option, one of my favorite veggie restaurants is Bouldin Creek Cafe. It’s casual, with a great menu that includes vegan chips and queso.

Let me begin by saying, if you thought tamales were the only reason to visit Curra's Grill Oltorf, think again! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a vibrant and cheerful atmosphere that instantly put a smile on my face. You might also want to check out the best seafood restaurants in Austin.

These days, East Sixth Street is a cacophony of construction, as hotels and high-rise buildings seem to heighten by the hour. But just beyond the barriers and the drone of jackhammers, there is no greater escape than the garden patio of essential Tex-Mex restaurant Tamale House East. Tamale House has a large parking lot for our guests while dining, which is accessible via E. For modern-day chefs who are descendants of Latin American cuisine, room exists for traditional recipes to bend and crack, opening up possibilities for something new and reflective of today’s culture.

On deck are dozen tamales filled with chicken tinga, black bean and cheese, or guajillo pork shoulder, available with salsas. Then there are meals with beans, rice, salsas, queso, and guacamole. Orders can be placed online for each location (downtown, Bouldin Creek, Westlake) with pickups from Friday, December 22 through Sunday, December 24. Pickup and delivery orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services. The south-of-the-Austin-airport food truck is open for tamale orders this holiday season. There hare a half-dozen tamales available for $17, and a two-dozen-order minimum for deliveries.

Austin was one of the cities that started the food truck scene in the US several decades ago, and now there are more than 2,000 food trucks in the city. Some are located in trailer parks that have multiple truck options and picnic table seating. After your morning at Town Lake and Zilker Park, have lunch at the Picnic food truck park, or the nearby original location of local favorite Chuy’s (the Tex-Mex chain is now expanding throughout the US).

With their fantastic tamales, great atmosphere, and impeccable service, this place truly deserves its spot in the article about the best tamales in Austin. As if their tamales weren't enough, Curra's Grill Oltorf also boasts an impressive selection of dishes that showcase the diverse flavors of Mexico. From enchiladas to tacos, everything on their menu is a celebration of Mexican cuisine.

Among the new-school barbecue truck’s holiday preorders are tamales in red chile barbacoa available by the dozen. Place orders online, with pickups available on Friday and Saturday, December 22 and 23. This time, get out on the water by renting a kayak, stand up paddleboard or paddle boat (a kid-friendly option). If you have time and energy for a drink, head over to the ABGB for happy hour. They have a great beer selection, lots of outdoor seating and local bands playing music. They make you feel right at home from the moment you walk through the door.

Again, the Brentwood barbecue restaurant is offering its smoked brisket or pulled pork tamales by the plate as part of its Days of Smoked Meats specials for the holidays. The tamale plates, which come with Spanish rice, brisket pinto beans, and chile con queso, are only available on Sunday, December 17. The tamale specials are also available at Stiles’s Cedar Park location and sibling restaurant the Switch in Belterra Village. Truth be told, tamales are really Texas’s best holiday dish. The tamale shop with two Austin locations, this in East Riverside and the other up in Scofield Farms, offers all sorts of tamales to-go. Holiday tamales are back at all three locations of the fast-casual Tex-Mex restaurant.

One highlight that stood out to me was the smoky and cheesy chipotle migas. This unique twist on a traditional Mexican dish sent my taste buds into a frenzy. The savory flavors of the migas combined with the gooey cheese and the subtle kick of chipotle created a party in my mouth. And then, specifically for Christmas, the restaurant is offering preorders right now through Saturday, December 16 for pickups on Tuesday, December 19 from 11 a.m.

UT students, professors and neighborhood folks flocked to the tiny space to fill up on delicious  hand made tacos. Since 1958, the Tamale House has always been a neighborhood spot. Back then, Grandma Carmen and Grandpa Moses Vasquez served the downtown Austin community. That community included the Mexican-American and African-American and Greek-American business people who had their own small businesses lining Congress Avenue. It included working class folks, senators and even a president.

Curra's Grill Oltorf absolutely knows how to deliver when it comes to traditional Mexican food. Their tamales are a delightful blend of savory flavors and tender textures. Each bite filled my palate with a burst of authentic Mexican goodness. The masa was perfectly cooked, encasing the flavorful fillings in a heavenly embrace. Order the avocado margarita with the Tex-Mex restaurant’s tamales, or preorder a dozen for home. Fillings range from pork to beans to chicken mole to black bean.

But here's the best part - the prices at Rosie's Tamale House are incredibly affordable. For such high-quality tamales, I expected to pay a hefty price, but I was pleasantly surprised by their affordability. It's an excellent option for a tasty meal that won't break the bank. I must also commend Marcelino's on their commitment to homemade tortillas. The difference in taste and texture was evident as soon as I took my first bite.
